How Much Does Trade Mark Registration Cost in Singapore?

2 min read

Trade mark registration in Singapore costs S$280 or S$410 per class in official IPOS fees, depending on whether your specification uses pre-approved descriptions.

How Much Does Trade Mark Registration Cost in Singapore? #

The official fees for registering a trade mark in Singapore are set by the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) and are charged on a per-class basis — that is, per category of goods or services your mark covers. The more classes you file in, the higher the total official fee.

New Application Fee #

For a new trade mark application, IPOS charges:

  • S$280 per class — where the specification of goods/services is fully adopted from IPOS’ Classification Database of pre-approved descriptions.
  • S$410 per class — where the specification is not fully adopted from the pre-approved database.

Using IPOS’ pre-approved descriptions not only lowers the fee but also helps streamline examination.

Renewal and Restoration Fees #

  • S$480 per class — renewal of registration, filed on or before the expiry date.
  • S$700 per class — late renewal, filed within the grace period after expiry.
  • S$770 per class — restoration of a lapsed registration.

International Registration (Madrid Protocol) #

To extend your Singapore trade mark internationally via the Madrid Protocol, you file through IPOS as your office of origin. The fees comprise an administrative fee of S$250 (payable to IPOS) plus an application fee payable to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Swiss francs, which depends on the number of classes and designated member countries.

What the Official Fees Do Not Cover #

The figures above are official IPOS statutory fees only. They do not include professional fees for a trade mark agent or lawyer to conduct clearance searches, draft your specification, or handle objections and opposition. Engaging a registered trade mark agent can reduce the risk of costly refusals or delays.

Official fees are subject to change. The rates above reflect IPOS’ schedule last updated 3 January 2026 (with fee updates taking effect from 1 September 2025). Always verify current fees on the IPOS website before filing.
