What criteria must my trade mark meet to be registrable in Singapore?

< 1 min read

To be registered in Singapore, your trade mark needs to follow certain criteria. At the very least, it needs to be capable of being graphically represented and be distinct enough that it separates your goods and services from other providers. You should avoid using common signs associated with established practices (like an elevator or escalator sign, for example) and avoid copying or being identical to existing or well-known trademarks. Unlike some other jurisdictions, Singapore’s trade mark regime does not require evidence of use to be filed before trade mark registration is granted.
